Spectrum Farms USA FAQ

OUR LIVE RESIN DELTA 8 EFFECTS EXPLAINED

Our entire line starts with a base of Live Resin because it brings in the widest range of photochemistry that has an impact on therapeutic potential, experience, taste, and aroma. Then we compound formulate additional cannabinoids with strain-specific Live Resin chosen for its profile to reach the desired target effects. Our products use the nomenclature Daytrip, Anytime, and Knockout instead of Sativa, Hybrid, and Indica as we feel the latter can be misleading.

BALANCED

  • Starts with cultivars possessing cannabinoids and terpenes which will guide the desired Sativa effect for those products including Beta-Caryophyllene, CBDv, and THCv

CLARITY

  • Starts with cultivars possessing the most aromatic profiles that aren’t dominant in cannabinoids or terpenes that may be energetic or sedating focusing instead on a more balanced experience

Delta 8 PM

  • Starts with cultivars possessing cannabinoids and terpenes which will guide the desired Indica effect including CBN and Myrcene

FAQ

WHY IS CBD LIVE RESIN SPECIAL?

Regular CBD distillate (and Delta 8 distillate) are very different from CBD Live Resin. CBD distillate is the standard extract used in most products on the market. It contains varying amounts of plant compounds depending on the material it was extracted from but CBD Live Resin will always contain more plant compounds because of how it is extracted. CBD distillate is typically made from CBD biomass that is dried before extraction which causes a loss of many of the plants’ compounds that are damaged by heat exposure. CBD Live Resin is extracted from CBD flower that is never dried and is instead frozen until extraction to protect the plants’ compounds. CBD Live Resin is considered a higher quality extract and is preferred by premium product makers and those who wish to have the most effective products.

HOW MUCH CBD IS IN LIVE RESIN?

The amount of CBD contained within CBD Live Resin will vary depending on the extract and how cannabinoid and terpene-rich the CBD flower used for extraction was. Our CBD Live Resin extracts typically contain a concentration between 50-70% CBD. CBD levels are not the same in all CBD flower cultivars which affect the final concentration of the compound when extracted for CBD Live Resin. You can view all of our COAs to determine which potency best suits your needs, or contact us for more info.

DOES CBD HAVE RESIN?

CBD doesn’t contain resin, CBD is Resin. CBD Live Resin in specific is an oleoresin. The word “resin” is referring to the resin glands which are prominent in hemp and cannabis plants. On the hemp plant, the resin glands contain high levels of CBD whereas a cannabis plant contains high levels of THC. The word “live” is referring to the extraction method where the plant is delicately handled and flash-frozen; since the plant is still “living” during extraction, the concentrate is considered a Live extract. We extract our CBD Live Resin from hemp flower cultivars that are richest in CBD.

WILL CBD LIVE RESIN GET YOU MORE HIGH?

The first important question is, “more high than what?”. In comparison to a CBD-only product made with standard CBD distillate, the answer is no but that’s because CBD distillate does give you a mind-altering “high” in general. That being said, if you feel effects from consuming CBD distillate-based products then you would feel stronger effects consuming CBD Live Resin since it contains more of the plants’ compounds. If we are comparing Delta 8 distillate products that do or don’t have CBD Live Resin then the answer is also no. This is because CBD interacts with the same receptors that Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC do and can impede the uptake of the other compounds. For this same reason, it will give
you a longer-lasting effect. Here is the biggest consideration and best question to ask, “What is your ultimate goal? The highest high or the best high?”. For a balanced, cannabis-like high we recommend products with Live Resin. Delta 8-only products are not natural and are one-dimensional, with Live Resin, you experience a better high that is multi-dimensional.

DO LIVE RESIN CARTS HAVE CBD?

Yes. Live Resin, even in cannabis, contains CBD since it’s present in cannabis and hemp plants which is where the Live Resin is extracted from. That being said, not all Live Resin carts contain Live Resin. Many actually contain Live Terpenes which you can read more about below.

WHAT DOES “LIVE” MEAN ON DELTA 8 & CBD PRODUCTS?

“Live” refers to the extraction method where the plant is delicately handled and flash-frozen; since the plant is still “living” during extraction, the concentrate is considered a Live extract. Since Live Resin is new to the hemp industry, “Live” can be misused as a marketing term that confuses consumers into thinking the product contains Live Resin. Many of the products that have “Live” listed on the product label contain “Live Terpenes”. “Live Terpenes” is just another name for hemp terpenes and are not “special terpenes”. They are steam distilled which is standard and not a new method. Make sure the product you are buying contains Live Resin and not just Live Terpenes, you can do so by checking the concentrate for multiple cannabinoids. The difference is significant.

WHAT DOES CBD RESIN DO?

CBD Live Resin, in general, does the same things as CBD distillate but it is more effective as it contains a more concentrated spectrum of CBD plant compounds due to the extraction method. When concentrates contain more cannabinoids and plant compounds, more of your endocannabinoid system is activated bringing more holistic benefits than standard distillates. Live Resin also potentiates other cannabinoids due to the entourage effect, meaning the high will be more full-bodied and last longer compared to standard distillates.

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT LIVE RESIN?

CBD Live Resin is special because it is extracted in a way that preserves more of the plants’ compounds which translates to higher yields during extraction (higher potency). We can look at food, for example, when food is frozen after being harvested it locks in more of the nutrition that can be lost as the plant ages after harvest. This is the same with CBD Live Resin. CBD Live Resin is made from hemp cannabis plants that are frozen right as they are harvested to lock in the beneficial compounds. Most products are made from distillate which is extracted from dried-out biomass. This makes products made with CBD Live Resin (like ours) much higher quality. If you were to have two bundles of spinach and you place one bundle in the freezer and one bundle on the counter, after a couple of days which one are you going to grab to make juice?

HOW DO YOU TAKE CBD RESIN?

CBD Live Resin can be taken in a variety of ways. When it is first extracted it is in distillate form; from there it can be dabbed as is, put into softgels or capsules, homogenized with MCT oil to make tinctures, and formulated into vape cartridges, disposables, dabs, gummies, and other products including those found on this site. In its raw form, it is sticky and thick so it has to be heated to be handled.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIVE RESIN AND ROSIN?

CBD Live Resin is more refined than rosin and also is extracted differently. Rosin is produced using solventless methods whereas CBD Live Resin is extracted using BHO. Rosin is rawer than CBD Live Resin and contains undesirable compounds that negatively impact taste and aroma in comparison to CBD Live Resin which maintains much of the plant chemistry but is refined just enough to bring out the desirable flavor and aroma compounds. They are both considered high-quality extracts.
